Housing industry group celebrates 10-year history of supporting The Baltimore Station during their annual golf outing’s 20th anniversary

The Baltimore Station, a residential treatment program supporting veterans and others transitioning from homelessness and addiction to self-sufficiency, received an $11,000 gift during the Maryland Multi-Housing Association’s (MMHA) 20th annual golf outing on Thursday, June 7, 2017. Since 2009, the housing industry group has donated over $105,000 to The Baltimore Station, and for 2017 alone it has pledged upwards $20,000 in direct donations.

MMHA’s 2017 golf outing, sponsored by Moran’s Elite Termite & Pest Management Company, gathered MMHA’s member businesses and organizations, as well as residents from the communities they serve. Attendees enjoyed delicious food, cocktails, raffles and 18 holes of golf on the beautiful fairways of Mountain Branch Golf Club in Joppa, MD, with the proceeds benefitting The Baltimore Station. In all, 205 attended.

It is the 10th year that MMHA has held its golf outing as a benefit for The Baltimore Station, one of many activities the housing industry group has participated in to support the city’s veterans and homeless men. In April, MMHA sponsored The Baltimore Station’s 25th annual Homerun for Recovery fundraiser, and it has also signed on as a lead sponsor for The Baltimore Station’s annual Stars, Stripes and Chow chili cook-off on November 4, 2017. Currently, they are also working together to develop a job training program that would help The Baltimore Station’s residents learn skills to succeed in the housing industry as maintenance technicians. The program expects to launch early next year.

“Maryland Multi-Housing Association’s annual golf outing is where we began our friendship 10 years ago, and it’s truly a privilege to have been the recipient of their generosity countless times since,” said John Friedel, executive director at The Baltimore Station. “Their support has been invaluable, both as a donor and as a partner in helping our residents find meaningful jobs in the housing industry. We are so proud to call MMHA our first ‘Friend of the Station.’”
