Dear Friend of The Baltimore Station,
Our collective goal since the onset of COVID-19 has been to keep our men safe and engaged in their treatment. We weren’t going to let a global pandemic stop us or more importantly, interfere with the hard work that our men at The Baltimore Station put in every day to make a better life for themselves. We wanted to keep things as “normal” as possible. But we knew we couldn’t do it alone. We knew we had to turn to our community of support for help, now more than ever.
Boy did you deliver! No matter what we asked for or needed, you were there to lend a hand. From in kind donations of masks, cleaning supplies, food, PPE, and clothing to purchasing items from our Amazon Wish List and providing funding to help with increased expenses. Thanks to you, our clinical team is fully equipped remotely so Case Managers can maintain that critical connection with their client while being safe. We “connected” all of our therapeutic activities remotely so the men could continue participating in innovative therapeutic treatment activities like art, journaling and music that play instrumental roles in their recovery. We even had “curb side” concerts featuring talented musicians of all genres who took personal time to bring joy to our men through music and storytelling.
All of these activities happened because of YOU. Because of your commitment. Because of your compassion. Because of your generosity. We have made it this far and still have more challenges as we close out this year and head into 2021. It has become crystal clear that in order to protect our men and staff from this next wave of COVID-19, that we need to temporarily relocate our operations to a nearby hotel so that each resident can have their own room and bathroom. This social distancing measure will go a long way to ensure their health and safety and allow our clinical team to engage more effectively in person – but socially distanced. This undertaking will add about $73 per day to our cost of operations per man, or $219,000 per month. We cannot forget our promise to protect and serve those who have served our country – and us. So I’m asking you today to make a year-end tax deductible donation to The Baltimore Station. 100% of your donation will directly support our men, the programs they participate in and help keep them safe from COVID-19 and the dangers of life on the street.
None of us knows what lies ahead of us. One thing we do know for sure is that, no matter what, we will continue to provide clinical and outpatient programs to give our men what they need to retain a sustainable income, secure a permanent place to call home, and equip them with the tools they need to live a substance free life. Your donation today will enable us to continue our mission.
From the residents, staff and Board of Directors, thank you for your continued support, dedication and commitment to The Baltimore Station. We greatly appreciate you coming along with us on this journey. For without you, we simply couldn’t do what we do for the men that we serve. Best wishes for a joyous holiday season and 2021.
With gratitude,
Kim E. Callari
